Areas of responsibility of the Assistant Mechanical Engineer will mainly consist of performing and/or assisting the ESA/ESTEC Mechanical Engineer in the following activities: o Reviewing, coordinating and monitoring all activities related to the construction, renovation or modification of mechanical installations. o Ensuring the mechanical installations’ compliance to the applicable norms and legislations performed by the site contractor. o Assisting the ESTEC Project Managers in the multi-disciplinary projects where works on mechanical installations are involved. o Assisting Site Acceptance Tests after construction, renovation or modification of mechanical installations. o Preparing technical work descriptions for small and medium projects related to mechanical installations on site. o Controlling, monitoring and reviewing – by means of key performance indicators - the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities which are outsourced to an external company on ESTEC mechanical installations. o Implementation and maintenance of service and quality assurance procedures. o Studying mechanical installations and preparing improvement plans including energy reduction proposals. o Liaising, closely cooperating and maintaining a sound working relationship with colleagues within the section, in or outside the department, and with the site maintenance contractor.
Profiel:
o At least a HBO degree in mechanical engineering. o At least 5 years’ experience in building infrastructure and facility management with mechanical engineering as an area of expertise o A proven capability of maintenance management and engineering in the above areas of responsibility. o Good knowledge of the applicable norms and legislation. o Sound analytical skills. Be able to analyse any situation, issue or installation and create a clear and detailed technical report for root cause analysis, improvement or repair. o Good skills in the MS Office software package (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio) o Moreover applicants should be able to work autonomously and be eager to learn on the job and by doing training to acquire adequate knowledge in different and new areas o Required languages: English, both written and verbal About ESA-ESTEC The European Space Agency (ESA) has sites in several European countries. The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands. At ESTEC, about 2500 engineers, technicians and scientists work hands-on with mission design, spacecraft and space technology. Almost all ESA projects - except launchers - are managed from ESTEC. In Noordwijk, people work on science missions, manned space missions, Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation satellites. ESTEC provides extensive testing acilities to erify the proper operation of spacecraft, such as the Large Space Simulator (LSS), acoustic and electromagnetic testing bays, multi-axis vibration tables and the ESA Propulsion Laboratory (EPL).
