WERQT is looking for a software support engineer with experience in the offshore survey industry. The company is a global expert for the collection and interpretation of data relating to the earth’s surface and sub-surface.
FunctieomschrijvingAs the Software Support Engineer you are ensuring that company survey software in use is properly maintained, tested and documented enabling company to provide effective services to clients. You are also assisting in the development of group company software and ensuring offshore personnel and office staff is confident in the operation of issued software by conducting training courses and giving field support as required.
• Giving training to offshore personnel in the use next generation survey software
• Coordinating all survey software support initiatives. First point of contact for all software related field support activities
• Establishing procedures for the control of survey software in use for field operations
• Together with the technical Support supervisor, determine current and future requirements for survey software
• Liaising with Fugro and third party software development centres regarding non conformance of survey software.
• Acting as internal client specifying requirements for future developments
• Providing support for all remote services related activities
• Assisting the project surveyor remote services with defining requirements for future development
• Assisting with the development of training course material and give specific training where required by the technical support supervisor and chief surveyor, for example next generation survey software remote services
• Ensuring time spent on projects is properly accounted for
• Adhering to company QA/HSE standards at all times, and demonstrate thorough awareness of and compliance with the QA/HSE system and its requirements
• Undertaking any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by the technical support supervisor from time to time
• Reporting to the technical support supervisor and chief surveyor as line management
• Liaising with workshop co-ordinator and project managers regarding new releases of software and regarding software support issues in office and field
• Assisting project surveyor remote services in defining requirements for future development
• Liaising with the training coordinator regarding software training course developments and regarding providing software training to offshore personnel

• Degree level in computing or survey related discipline
• Minimum 5 years survey related software experience
• Experience with giving training courses on the use of software
• Good knowledge of English language (verbal and in writing)
• Ability to identifying problems and recognizing important information with a clear understanding of the underlying links between the details
• Ability to finding causes of problems to quickly identifying and filtering relevant information
• Strong communication skills
• Strong ICT literacy
