There is a growing demand for always-on connected devices and wireless communications systems in terms of performance and reliability. Business Line Smart Antenna Solutions (BL-SAS) is part of the BU Security and Connectivity within NXP Semiconductors. The Business Line develops and sells industry-leading Smart Antenna Solutions for a wide range of applications and a global customer base. Key development areas are RF ICs for wireless connectivity applications, infrastructure applications, such as base stations, video on demand and pay TV, satellite terminals and a variety of RF components for the general market. For our Business Line Smart Antenna Solutions (BL SAS), headquartered in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Validation Engineer with the potential to grow to principal level in approx. 2-3 years.

Your Role:
As a Senior Validation Engineer, your main responsibility is to ensure that the product actually performs its intended functions in its intended environment. He/she provides the product validation strategy and execute/lead the validation activities (debugging, functional evaluation and characterization) according to BL standards and in agreed project timeline.

• Discuss with system architect and design engineer how a system or product requirement should be validated. This includes test cases, hardware configuration, specifications and limitations
• Define test set-up both hardware and software required to implement each test case and design the optimum board (performance vs cost trade off)
• Understand the effect of the PCB configuration (test and validation boards) to the product performance via simulations and measurements
• During evaluation, setting-up Design of Experiment (DOE) to debug and optimize product performance
• Using data analysis tools, handle large measurement data and provide clear overview of product performance against specifications and provide clear analysis and conclusions on the compliancy of the product against the defined requirements
• Support the customer support engineer to provide evaluation boards and measurement results to the customers and local customer support teams
• Contribute in delivering Best in Class (BiC) infrastructures for silicon validation (Accuracy, Time to Market, Coverage, Traceability)
• Contribute in the System and Product Validation Roadmap

 Your profile:

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5-10 years relevant experience in RF testing (validation or application), knows how the interaction of product characteristics and equipment settings determines the accuracy of the measurement
• Strong team player, capable of handling technical discussions inside technical community
• Excellent technical skills on the intersection between application and product
• Capable of measuring both manual and automated test set-up (experience in Labview is preferred)
• Works pro-actively in problem solving, debugging and focused on solutions
• Good management of tasks and proactively communicate to different stakeholders the status of activities, capable of presenting clearly his/her ideas to different stakeholders
• Delivers on commitment with highest quality
